Martha Stewart Pom-Poms

About two years ago I bought this Martha Stewart Pink Pom-Poms Kit at Big Lots. I originally bought it while I was pregnant to decorate my daughter's bedroom. Well, she's now two years old and I still haven't put them together. It's selling on the Martha sight for $18.49. I got mine for only $2.00- great deal!

I finally decided to put them together for my sister's bridal shower. They were pretty easy to assemble. Just fold the pre-scored stacks of tissue paper accordion style, twist in the middle with the wire that was provided, then open up each sheet of tissue paper- that was the fun part. You bend the wire into a little hook so you can attach thread to hang them.

We hung them in a cluster from the ceiling fan.

I plan on hanging them in my daughter's room soon- which was the original plan!

Wrap a Present Using a Blanket

For my cousin's baby shower I wraped part of her present in a baby blanket.  Wrapping paper, or decorative bags get thrown away, so why not giver her something she can use!

Inside there is a small photo album and a shirt for the baby.  I just placed the two in the middle of the blanket, tied oppsite corners, added some coordinating ribbon, and stuck the card into the middle.  Very easy.

My inspiration came from Pinterest from All Things G & D.  Her's looks way better than mine, and she used a book instead of a card.  Adorable!  Mine was the way easier version.

Closet Organization

It's been a looong time since I last weeded through my closet.  After a small shopping spree the other day at the outlet mall, I thought it was definitely time to attack my closet so I would have some room to put my new things.  This is how my closet looked before I started:  Mostly my clothes and some of Dave's. What a mess!

Gross!  What is this?

I had already bought these closet dividers and have been using them for a while.  All the hangers that are hung the wrong way are clothes that I've worn.

So I started by taking all the stuff off the floor and the shelves.  Vacuumed them, and wiped them down.  Then I started pulling clothes out that I don't wear, can't stand to look at, or don't fit properly.  I ended up with this pile:
Since I had this huge basked of hangers now, I switched all my clothes to white hangers, just to make it look nicer.  I moved all of Dave's clothes to the right of the closet, hung a command hook for his belts, and hung another one on the back of the door where an old one had fallen off.  Looks much better, right?

On the top shelf I put two bags that I'm always packing, usually to stay over night at my mom's house.  On the second shelf I put some folded sweaters, my iron and jugs of distilled water for the iron, a basked of socks without mates, and some purses.
On the floor I have a basket of sneakers, one of boots, and then my slippers.  I also filled the shoe organizer with the shoes that I wear most often.
Here is a side by side comparison:
Ok, so maybe it doesn't look too different, but it really is!  Afterwards I cleaned out the drawrs in both my dressers and had dave go throught his drawrs too.  We ended up with four garbage bags worth of clothes to donate!  Sooo much nicer to open the closet now!

Very First Post!!

This is my very first post!  I decided to start this blog in order to light a fire under myself to put all the inspiration I've come across in to action.  I spend so much time reading blogs, looking at Pintrest, and just plain filling my head up with ideas, but I act on very few of them.  My hopes are that if I have a place to post and keep track of my accomplishments, big or small, I will be more excited to tackle some of them that are floating around in my head.  Let's hope this works!!
